Pome is a medium sized herb, which is some 30-60cm height with ovate, spiny leaves. The orange/reddish/brownish florets are collected, dried and ground. The powder is mixed with bread and various other dishes as a food coloring. It is said to be very effective against khurool (wheals) and other irritating skin diseases. The seeds are used as poultry feed during the winter and is effective at enhancing egg production.
